What Is Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic coating is a protective layer you can apply to the exterior of your vehicle. Its purpose is to protect your vehicle’s exterior paint, glass, tires, and wheels from environmental hazards and road dust. As you drive, contaminants from the road can slowly erode each feature, leading to minor damage if you don’t have a protective coating on your vehicle. With ceramic coating, your vehicle can maintain its pristine exterior for longer, allowing you to drive worry-free.

At J&J Window Tinting and Paint Protection, we offer three types of ceramic coating:

  • ION Ceramic
  • Ceramic Pro Glass
  • Ceramic Wheel & Tire

How To Maintain Ceramic Coating

Ceramic coating needs some occasional care to ensure it protects your vehicle for years. Below are steps you can use to maintain your new ceramic coating:

  • Use the two-bucket method: When you wash your car, have a bucket with your soap and water and another bucket with clean water and dust guards to ensure your cloth is clean for each section of your vehicle.
  • Wash your car regularly: Regardless of how often you drive, washing your car once every two weeks is a good idea. This ensures your vehicle avoids the long-term buildup of contaminants.
  • Avoid direct sunlight when washing: Sunlight can expose your car to heat while you wash it, especially if you have a dark-colored vehicle. Finding a shady spot can prevent this heat and also keep you safer.
  • Use a neutral car soap: When you wash ceramic coating, use a neutral soap free from waxes and polishes and wash your car from top to bottom. Rinse each section as you go.
  • Find separate buckets and wash mitts for paneling and wheels: Your wheels and tires are the most likely to have contaminants, so using different mitts and buckets reduces your vehicle’s exposure.

How Much Does Ceramic Coating Cost?

The typical market rate for ceramic coating is $1,000 to $3,000. This can vary depending on the time of year, other services you get for your vehicle, the size of your vehicle, and whether you need a reapplication or a new application.

Is Ceramic Coating Worth It?

Yes. Ceramic coating is worth the investment, as it can protect your vehicle from the buildup of minor damage. Each section you cover is one you may not have to replace because of corrosion and environmental hazards from driving.
